Course description:
This course seeks to develop the understanding of the visual language through different influential platforms. The specialism pursues the interdisciplinary task of creating well informed design. Students are expected to challenge design conventions and analyse orthodoxies within the Graphic Communication realm. The intellectual discourse of the programme will push design boundaries through the articulation of real design issues within contemporary visual culture. The field of graphic design has transcended two dimensional design and print to conquer a bigger and an unlimited prospect in Design Communication. Designers will have to provide a bolder vocabulary of contemporary visual language to sell, persuade, excite and celebrate the changing visual culture. In responding to the increasing use and functions of digital media today, Graphic Communication represents a more dynamic and vigorous position in which challenging conventions will impact the evolving and rapid change of communication today. Inter-disciplinary collaborations have become catalysts and will continue to be instrumental in the future creation of branding, typography, information design, interface design, direct marketing and promotional collaterals. The transformation of media forms and newer applications of technologies have redefined the role of Design Communication. Globalization has impacted on communication and defines it as a core aspect to this interconnected world and era. This poses a challenge for tomorrow’s Graphic Communication respond to the evolving design economy. This specialism will cater to those demands and push the boundaries of solving everyday communication problems using an interesting mix of media and messages.
Entry requirements:
Students need to have completed high school (Grade 12), Junior College or Pre-University education. They must have Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' level with minimum pass in two subjects plus general paper or recognised equivalent.

Applicants must pay a non refundable application fee of S$60 either by cash / NETS, credit card or cheque. In addition to these, they must submit certified-true copies of transcripts and certificates, letters of reference / recommendation. Certificates in a foreign language are required to be translated into English. Students may apply online.
