Course description:

This course focuses on an in-depth understanding of promotional activities, corporate journalism and publications, events planning, international public relations, communication plans and fashion photography. Students also learn the art of integrating fashion and journalism and exercising this knowledge in the real world of communication. This course covers the following areas of study: colour theory for fashion, history of costume, textiles, digital photography, page layout, digital illustration, image processing, garment and composition, fashion marketing, fashion and the consumer, fashion merchandising, multimedia and its technology, fashion communication, market research techniques, marketing and design on the web, current issues in the global fashion industry, styles and trends, public relation writing, integrated marketing communication, fashion coordination and promotion, corporate journalism and writing for the media, media and the culture, fashion communication project 1, fashion communication project 2, academic research and communication skills and internship. Career opportunities of this program include fashion journalist, fashion editor, fashion assistant, fashion stylist, promotion and merchandise assistance, and feature editor.

Entry requirements:

Students should be at least 16 years old with three ‘O’ levels or five ‘N’ level credits or an international school high school equivalent.

Application details:

Students must pay a non-refundable application fee of S$200 to Raffles Design Institute. In addition to this, they must submit a copy of identity card or passport, three passport sized photographs, copies of latest educational transcripts and certificates (original language and English translated), updated resume (if applicant has working experience for more than one year) and copy of completion of National Service Certificate (for local male applicants). Students should send all the above documents along with the completed and signed application form to Raffles Design Institute, 99 Beach Road, Singapore 189701.
