The module 1 includes Computing Basics, The OSI model, Local Area Networks (LANs), Layer 1: Electronics and Signals, Layer 1: Media, Connections and Collisions, Layer 2: Concepts, Layer 2: Technologies, Design and documentation, Structured Cabling Project, Layer 3: Addressing and Routing, Layer 3: Routing and Protocols, Layer 4: The Transport Layer, Layer 5: The Session Layer, Layer 6: The Presentation Layer, Layer 7: The Application Layer. The other modules of the Computer Networking course leading to CCNA certification are as follows: Module 2: Routing Theory and Router Technology; Modules 3 and 4: Intermediate Routing and WAN Technologies. Upon completion of the 4 modules, students are ready for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) examination.

Course description:
This course is the first module of the Computer Networking course leading to CCNA certification. This full course comprises of four modules. It aims to equip participants with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to design, build, maintain and troubleshoot small to medium-size networks. Anyone who wants to have a head start in the computer networking industry may attend this program.
Entry requirements:
Applicants must have GCE ‘N’ level and above; and experience with usage of PC and Microsoft Office or equivalent. Applicants should be free from colour blindness.
Application details:
Students will be able to register for class approximately two months before each intake. They can choose to sign up in a few ways: postal and internet registration or walk-in registration. Students can post the application form together with the cheque payment to the following address: Industry Training Programme Dept, ITE Headquarters, 10 Dover Drive, Singapore 138683; or they can register through the internet by using the online form. Postal and internet applications must be accompanied or followed-up by cheque payment for confirmation of place. Students must cross cheque and pay to Institute of Technical Education. At the back of the cheque, they should write applicant’s name, NRIC/FIN, course title, contact number and email address. Students can also register at customer service centers, in person or through an authorized person during the registration period. They must bring along all relevant documents, including NRIC, work pass or dependant's pass; and the total fees (cheque, cash, credit card or NETS accepted).
